D.I.Y. WiMax from Next Year
Aperto Networks has announced the availability in the first quarter of 2006 of its indoor, self-install WiMAX broadband wireless products for consumers. Aperto Networks' intuitive, simple-to-install WiMAX customer premise equipment (CPE) feature the latest advancements in chip, radio, and antenna technologies.
"The introduction of Aperto Networks' indoor, self-install consumer CPE products is an important milestone for Aperto Networks and underscores our commitment to our customers to be the first to market with the most proven, technically advanced WiMAX products," said Manish Gupta, vice president of marketing and alliances.
The IEEE 802.16-2004 standards-compliant products, designed to allow simple self-installation and intuitive configuration management, will be marketed as the PM500 series product line, within Aperto Networks' PacketMAX product family.
"Aperto Networks has shown themselves as strong contenders in bringing proven WiMAX class, high-speed wireless broadband Internet access to homes and businesses," said Lindsay Schroth, an analyst for the Yankee Group.
Aperto's PacketMAX products are currently undergoing interoperability and conformance testing at Cetecom Labs, in Malaga, Spain, and are expected to be among the first products to be declared WiMAX Forum Certified before the end of 2005."
