TDC: Easymobile CEO No Longer In Charge Of Country Operations

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Danish telecom operator TDC AS (TLD) Wednesday said the chief executive of its EasyMobile unit is no longer in charge of operations in the three countries where the company is active.

Henning Vest, president of TDC's Mobile International unit, said in a statement that EasyMobile CEO Frank Rasmussen is still a director in the TDC unit that oversees EasyMobile operations, but is no longer in charge of the day-to-day running of the country units.

Rasmussen later confirmed that is he is no longer heading operations in the U.K., the Netherlands and Germany.

Rasmussen wouldn't confirm media reports that in effect he's been sacked, but said he hadn't been assigned new responsibilities.

Danish media has reported that Rasmussen's departure may have been due to illness.

"I'm not sick. Other than that I cannot comment," Rasmussen said.

EasyMobile has not enjoyed major success and saw only 15,000 subscribers sign up to its services in the U.K. by the end of June from a launch in March.

EasyMobile is planning to launch service shortly in the Netherlands and later in Germany.
