ACCS Ex-CEO Charged For Cheating Nokia
SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- The founder and former chief executive of Singapore's Accord Customer Care Solutions Ltd. (A27.SG) and 11 other former employees were charged with cheating and dishonesty offenses by the Singapore police, the Straits Times reports Saturday.
Former Chief Executive Victor Tan is accused of conspiring to defraud mobile phone maker Nokia (NOK) by charging for fictitious repairs, the newspaper said. The other employees are also accused of conspiring in September 2003 to prepare fictitious warranty repair claims of Nokia mobile telephones, it said.
ACCS was engaged in the service and repair of Nokia mobile phones in Singapore and other parts of Asia. The company lost the contract in February 2005.
The Straits Times said ACCS sent monthly bills to Nokia detailing repairs for phones that weren't done.
The newspaper also quoted a Nokia spokesman as saying: "Nokia is in discussions with the new management of ACCS to recover any fictitious warranty claims and invoices."
