Cingular Wireless Eases 3G Activation for Consumers

Cingular Wireless says that it will use SmartTrust's Over-The-Air technology (OTA) to help simplify the 3G activation process for its customers when it launches its next generation wireless services later this year. The SmartTrust solution will also enable Cingular Wireless to offer customers additional 3G services in the future, provide greater security and enhanced phonebook support. These services can be delivered remotely Over-The-Air (OTA).

"As a new technology, it is important to ensure that when consumers walk into one of Cingular's stores they experience a reliable activation process."

SmartTrust will manage the activation process both on the subscriber's 3G SIM card and through integration with Cingular's own back-end billing and provisioning systems. SmartTrust's OTA solution has been in place at Cingular for the last three years, helping to manage the activation of new GSM subscriptions. Today's announcement further demonstrates SmartTrust's commitment to Cingular's ongoing success with the launch of 3G."
