LONDON -(Dow Jones)- U.K. mobile phone users sent a record 2.7 billion text messages in July, according to data released Tuesday by the Mobile Data Association.
On average, 87 million text messages were sent each day in July, the highest daily figure to date. Text volume was 24% higher than in the same period a year earlier.
The association expects 30 billion text messages to be sent in the U.K. during 2005, compared with 26.2 billion in 2004.
