Nokia To Deliver Network Solutions To GrameenPhone

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Finnish mobile communications company Nokia Oyj (NOK) Monday said it has signed an agreement to deliver network solutions to Bangladeshi telecommunications operator GrameenPhone Ltd.

The value of the deal wasn't disclosed.

The company said GrameenPhone will enhance its existing Short Message Service with the Nokia Short Message Service Center, resulting in a significant increase in GrameenPhone network's SMS capacity.

GrameenPhone will also deploy Nokia's Online Service Controller rating and charging solution and receive related support and services.

Rajeev Suri, Senior Vice President, Networks for Nokia in Asia and the pacific said: "The Bangladeshi mobile market is expected to double from the current subscriber base of six million over the next few years. Nokia is committed to working with the industry and the government to build telecom networks based on the latest technologies and provide world-class telecom services to the citizens of the country."
