LogicaCMG has won a contract to provide a Messaging solution to the Spacetel Syria Areeba network, a leading Syrian operator with more than 1,150 GSM sites serving the main cities and roads in the country. This is the second messaging deal for LogicaCMG in Syria, which also extends its relationship with Investcom Holding, owner of the Spacetel Syria network.
Areeba is deploying LogicaCMG's Short Message Service Centre (SMSC), Multimedia Message Service Centre (MMSC) and Cell Broadcast Service (CBS). In addition, deploying LogicaCMG's Next Generation Messaging solution will provide Areeba with a simple migration path to services such as video and unified messaging, whilst at the same time protecting its existing infrastructure investments.
Ismail Jaroudi, Deputy Managing Director of Spacetel Syria, said: "The use of mobile messaging services is growing at a rapid rate in Syria so our priority was to find a solution that offered sufficient flexibility to accommodate this rise in demand. We selected LogicaCMG because its Next Generation Messaging solution offered an integrated solution for key data services such as SMS and MMS, integrating best of breed modules and applications into our network, easily and cost-effectively. LogicaCMG's proven leadership in next generation messaging solutions and their experience in developing and deploying advanced messaging technologies for operators across the globe were all key factors in our choice."
Mr. Nabil Y. Khalil, director for LogicaCMG's global telecom business in the Middle East and North Africa, said: "Working with Investcom Holdings in Syria is very exciting as Investcom is a rapidly expanding organisation with a strong position in the marketplace. We are very pleased to deploy Spacetel Syria's core messaging technology and support it in extending the range of services on offer to its customers."
