Belgacom Launches No Frills, On-line Mobile Service"
BRUSSELS -(Dow Jones)- Belgacom's mobile unit has launched UglyDuck, a new low cost online mobile service.
The new brand is being marketed separately from Proximus as it is a no-frills prepaid offer with only one tariff for national calls (EUR0.29 per minute) and one tariff for SMS (EUR0.12). Customers cannot expect any extra services such as personal advice or promotions.
Currently a Pay&Go Anytime tariff with Proximus costs EUR0.37. Pay&Go Evening Talk costs EUR0.20/EIR0.25 on-net and EUR0.50 off-net. An SMS message costs EUR0.15.
Customers do not subscribe to UglyDuck: they use a prepaid card. They can reload it via his mobile phone, online at the UglyDuck site or at a Bancontact/MisterCash ATM. The customer only needs to remember two rates that are always valid for calls to all networks within Belgium.
Depending on the reload amount, the customer receives free call credit which can be used to make calls at the weekend to UglyDuck, Proximus and fixed lines. The free call credit is valid for 1 month.
Registration and use are very easy. Customers can register and find information about rates, services and reload facilities through the UglyDuck website. Help is 100% online: customers can find all the answers to their questions at the website. Additional questions can of course be asked via e-mail.
UglyDuck uses the Proximus network. This means UglyDuck is the only mobile service in Belgium that manages to combine an attractive offer with an
outstanding network. The customer enjoys attractive prices without losing out on quality.
