3G Video Calls Interconnecting in Hong Kong
Hong Kong's SmarTone-Vodafone has announced that its local 3G video calling now extends to another Hong Kong network operator - CSL. Starting today, SmarTone-Vodafone and CSL customers can make and receive video calls between them.
"SmarTone-Vodafone is pleased to be the first in providing video calling interconnection amongst Hong Kong operators. This means even better communications for our customers when they wish to talk face-to-face with their families and friends," said Mr. Douglas Li, Chief Executive Officer of SmarTone-Vodafone.
SmarTone-Vodafone has over 3,500 transmission sites in Hong Kong. It now provides 99.9% 3G coverage of Hong Kong including major shopping malls, commercial buildings and residential areas. It offers uninterrupted 3G coverage at 48 of the 52 MTR and Airport Express stations (including Sunny Bay and Disneyland Resort), including all tunnels between stations. The last four MTR stations will be in service by 20 August. At that time, customers will enjoy seamless full 3G service including video calling across the whole MTR system."
