UK Mobile Phone Users Sent 2.6 Billion Text Messages In June-MDA

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- U.K. mobile phone users sent 2.6 billion text messages in June, according to the latest data from the Mobile Data Association, MDA.

On average, 86.7 million text messages were sent each day in June. Text volume was 24% higher than in the same period a year earlier.

In the first six months of the year, over 15 billion person-to-person text messages were sent in the U.K.

The MDA expects 30 billion text messages to be sent in the U.K. during 2005, compared with 26.2 billion in 2004.
