Maroc Telecom Says 1st Half Revenue +18.5% Thanks To Mobile Unit

PARIS -(Dow Jones)- Maroc Telecom SA (IAM.CL), a unit of Vivendi Universal SA (V), said Wednesday that growth in its mobile-phone division helped boost revenue by 18.5% in the first six months.

The company said revenue rose to EUR9.75 billion from EUR8.23 billion over the period.

On a pro-forma basis to include the acquisition of Mauritel Telecom and holding exchange rates constant, Maroc Telecom said its revenue grew 14%.

Maroc Telecom, the country's largest telecommunications operator, said that revenue from mobile phone operations grew 32.6% on a reported basis. Fixed-line operations boosted revenue by 8.3% on a reported basis.
