Bluetooth Group Opens Global HQ
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is setting up its new global headquarters in Bellevue, Washington, USA - just down the road from the HQ of T-Mobile USA incidentally. With additional operations in Malmo, Sweden and Hong Kong, and members in 78 countries around the globe, the Pacific Northwest will act as a global gateway for staff and members traveling in and out of the region.
The neighboring city of Seattle was recently identified in the June 7, 2005 issue of the Seattle Times as the most unwired city in the United States and in March 2006 will be home to the annual Bluetooth SIG All Hands Meeting attended by over 120 members from companies like Nokia, Motorola, Plantronics, Sony Ericsson, Toyota, Toshiba, Logitech, and IBM, among others. The Bluetooth SIG says that it is pleased to be in close proximity to the headquarters of Microsoft and Intel, both promoter and Board of Director members, as well as within a one-hour drive to 33 other member companies.
"The Pacific Northwest is a hotbed of wireless technology and innovation, making it an ideal environment for the Bluetooth SIG and its goal of driving market awareness and adoption of Bluetooth technology," said Michael Foley, Ph.D., executive director of the Bluetooth SIG. "Besides enabling us to easily reach international markets while being close to key members, the area offers an attractive quality of life."
The SIG employs 24 people worldwide with 14 employees in the Bellevue headquarters."
