The striking Botswana born Kaone has been named as the "Nokia Face of Africa 2005" during a vibrant fashion extravaganza at Sun City in Johannesburg. In an event witnessed live by television audiences across Africa tuned in to M-NET, the delighted 19-year-old turned from would-be model into certified catwalk star.
Nineteen-year-old Kaone Kario hails from Maun in Botswana, a place she describes quite simply as, ''it's beautiful, it's home.''
With a style and grace that were a fitting testament to weeks of intense preparation, Adeola (Nigeria), Anne (Kenya), Doyin (Nigeria), Greatmore (Zimbabwe), Kaone (Botswana), Mirriam (Zambia), Opeyemi (Nigeria), Tingirt (Ethiopia), Tiyani (SA) and Yordanos (Ethiopia) glided their way down the runway to applause in couture creations by some of Africa's some innovative designers.
