Using a Phone As Your Front Door Key

Mita Home KK, a Toyama Prefecture-based firm that builds and rents apartments and houses, says that it will introduce a locking system that uses a mobile phone to lock and unlock the door.

As the system does not require a keyhole on the door, thieves seeking to pick the lock are unable to do so, the officials claimed.

The resident has to unlock the door by pushing a registered number on a mobile phone which then sends a signal to the door to unlock it - lets just hope the battery doesn't die on the phone."
