Siemens Expands Proximus Cell Phone Network Partnership

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- German technology company Siemens AG (SI) Friday said it has expanded its partnership with Belgian cell phone network operator Belgacom SA's (BELG.BT) Proximus.

Under the agreement, Siemens will modernize the Proximus mobile phone network, Siemens said in a statement.

Proximus will switch to Siemens technology, the so-called Power Mobile Switching Center, or PowerMSC, which allows for a slimmer network infrastructure. The new technology will result in considerable cost savings for Proximus, Siemens said.

Additionally, the Munich-based company will supply Proximus with services such as installation of the technology, as well as project management and project support.
