T-Mobile Launches Mobile Internet Over 3G For EUR10/Mo

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- Mobile telephone company T-Mobile International AG (TMO.YY) Tuesday said it has launched a service in Germany, that offers high-speed Internet access on mobile phones in Germany for EUR10 a month.

T-Mobile, a unit of German incumbent Deutsche Telekom AG (DT), will also launch the new Internet service in the U.K., Netherlands and Czech in the course of 2005.

T-Mobile said that the service, dubbed web'n'walk, allows its subscribers to surf on the Internet over its third-generation mobile telephone network, using up to 30 megabyte of Internet traffic for EUR10 a month.

Rene Obermann, the chief executive of the Deutsche Telekom unit, said that he targets to have "a high 6-digit number" in subscribers by the end of 2006.

The company also said that it has sealed a partnership with Internet search engine firm Google Inc. (GGL.XX); as part of the deal, Google's search engine will be preset as the Internet home-page on the T-Mobile phones.
