Sonaecom To Launch Discount Mobile Service

LISBON -(Dow Jones)- Sonaecom SGPS (SNCAE.LB) said Monday it is launching a new discount mobile operator, Rede4, saying it will offer the lowest calling charges among all the other domestic cellular networks.

Sonaecom, which also runs the Optimus mobile operator in conjunction with France Telecom SA (FTE), said it will invest around EUR4 million to launch Rede4, mainly on advertising.

Rede4 aims to take up 11% of the market within four years and have 100,000 clients by the end of 2005.

Rede4 will use the Optimus network, the company said.
