Mobile Operators to Jointly Offer Repeater
Japan's Vodafone K.K. has announced that NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, TU-KA Cellular Tokyo and Vodafone K.K. have jointly developed a Common Operator Repeater and will begin accepting applications for purchase from next week.
Currently, unlicensed mobile phone repeaters disrupt the communications of mobile phone base stations, making mobile communications difficult in some cases. With the jointly developed repeater, customers will be able to enjoy high-quality communications without causing interference, as the repeaters will be installed in optimal areas to deliver signals from outdoors to difficult to reach areas, like stores underground and inside buildings.
The Common Operator Repeater is compatible with NTT DoCoMo mova (2G), KDDI CDMA 1X and CDMA 1X WIN (both 3G), TU-KA Cellular Tokyo and Vodafone K.K. 2G mobile phones."
