Software to Improve Vodafone's Network Planning
Wireless Valley Communications has announced that Vodafone Egypt will use its SitePlanner and EnterprisePlanner products to develop and manage expansion of its cellular network. To improve and enhance GSM coverage for its customers, Vodafone Egypt will be supplementing its outdoor tower grid with in-building networks in locations where there is high concentration of use. Instead of relying on time-consuming and expensive site survey methods, Vodafone will use Wireless Valley's SitePlanner software to design, implement and manage the in-building networks.
Vodafone Egypt conducted a full technical trial involving three products and selected Wireless Valley because it excelled in three areas. They created a design with Wireless Valley and compared onsite measurement data to the predictions; overall, Wireless Valley's predictions were highly accurate and the closest to the actual data. Vodafone Egypt also found the extensive electrical components library to be very useful and concluded that Wireless Valley was one of the few vendors that provided prediction capabilities for leaky feeder cables.
"Our strategy is to make mobile telephony more accessible and affordable in Egypt," said Mohamed Shalaby, radio planning manager for Vodafone Egypt. "Using Wireless Valley's products to design and manage our in-building expansion will enable us to streamline and improve our design processes and create networks with optimal coverage. The result will be fewer dropped calls and increased capacity, resulting in improved customer satisfaction, reduced customer turnover and increased revenue opportunities."
