Pubs in the UK will soon be able to sell PrePay phone top-up credits following upgrades to the itbox terminals now being rolled out in the UK's bars and pubs. Until now top up services have been offered mainly by general retailers, forcing pub goers to leave the bar and trek to the local newsagent when they run out of credit.

Because the service will be run through the itbox network, publicans can reap the benefit of offering a top up service without tying up busy bar staff. Inspired Broadcast Networks (Inspired), the digital division of coin-op giant Leisure Link, is trialling the new service on 50 itboxes across the country with full roll-out across 7,000 locations expected shortly.
The service is the first of a new range of eCommerce services that are to be made available on the itbox over the next 3 months. This service will include mobile entertainment from ringtones and logos to video messages, along with innovative services such as concert ticket sales and music downloads.
The opportunity has been made possible through Paypoint, the UK's leading branded payment collection network used for the cash payment of bills and services. The itbox utilises Paypoint's technology and allows users to purchase
