CDMA Coverage Improvements in Newfoundland and Labrador

Canada's Aliant has announced a US$11 million investment in their digital wireless network across the Avalon Peninsula. Customers in Petty Harbour, Maddox Cove and Whiteway are now covered by Aliant's world-class digital wireless network.

"We're pleased to provide our customers with expanded digital coverage as part of our overall network expansion and enhancement program in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Chuck Hartlen, Vice-President, Customer Services and Mobility. "This investment is part of our on-going commitment to providing our customers with a high quality, reliable, digital wireless network."

By the end of this year Aliant will have invested more than US$59 million building a world-class digital wireless network in the province - reaching approximately 82% of the population. Aliant's overall wireless investment across Atlantic Canada is approximately US$280 million since 1999.

"More of our customers can now enjoy the many benefits of digital wireless as a result of the new digital cell sites located just outside of St. John's on the Avalon Peninsula," says Geralyn Hansford, Regional Manager, Eastern Newfoundland, Aliant. "The location of the new sites will offer many benefits to customers, travellers and tourists."
