In September 2005, Swiss Post will issue the world's first MMS stamps. The four motifs were selected from over 3,300 MMS photos submitted by the general public in the "Swiss mobil - a country on the move" competition. The four mobile phone photographers are being honoured in this way for the first time ever. The unsual success story behind the stamps' creation was made possible by the partnership between Swiss Post, Swisscom Mobile and the Museum for Communication.
The four motifs were selected from entries to "Swiss mobil - a country on the move", a competition launched jointly by Swiss Post, Swisscom Mobile and the Museum for Communication in Berne. Of the 3,300 MMS photos taken by owners of mobile phones, the 100 pictures that gained the most public votes made it to the final round. A specialist jury composed of representatives from the three project partners then selected four of these MMS pictures, which will now feature on the new stamps.
