Deutsche Telekom: Currently No Plans To Sell T-Mobile USA

DUESSELDORF -(Dow Jones)- German telecommunications operator Deutsche Telekom AG (DT) doesn't currently plan to sell the U.S. branch of its T-Mobile International AG (TMO.YY) unit, said company Chief Executive Kai-Uwe Ricke Tuesday.

Speaking at the company's shareholder meeting in Hannover, Ricke said T-Mobile USA is following "an extremely successful growth strategy which we will continue."

Merger plans between large mobile phone operators have raised speculation about consolidation within the industry. T-Mobile USA is the smallest of the national operators.
