CDMA for Sri Lanka

Ericsson and Sri Lanka's Suntel have signed a sole supplier agreement to deploy a turnkey island wide CDMA2000 1X network for voice and data services in Sri Lanka. Under the agreement Ericsson will provide its comprehensive CDMA2000 1X network solution including core and radio value added applications such as multi media messaging service short messaging service and Pre paid and services such as radio network design and optimization training and network rollout.
"Ericsson is committed to supporting Sri Lanka's growing telecommunications market and we look forward to exploring possibilities of bringing advanced voice and data services, such as Wireless Broadband, to Sri Lanka." said Bimal Dayal, Managing Director of Ericsson Telecommunications Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
Deployment will begin soon with expected commercial availability in Q2 2005."
