Mobiles Top China Complaints Agency Workload

China's Consumer Association (CCA) has filed a report stating that mobile phone complaints toped the list of most complained about products, beating motor cars and furniture into second and third places respectively. According to statistics, last year, CCA accepted 724,229 complaints from consumers, increased by 4.2% comparing with the 2003, among them, 687,465 were handled, including 10,323 cases due to cheating operators.

The complaints from consumers can be classified into the following groups: quality problems occupied 65.2%, price problems took 6.8%, measuring problems took 3.5%, security problems occupied 2.3% and advertising problems took 2.3%.

The top three commodities to be increasingly complained is mobile phone, autos and furniture, and the top three services to be increasingly complained is inter net, telecom and celebrations for accommodations and entertainments.

Complaints for mobile phones still took the head. In the year 2004, the complaints for mobile phones took 9.6% of the total complaints, which means there was one complaint among each 10. With increasing demands on mobile phones, various of unqualified products have occupied the markets, and the huge amount of complaints were also resulted by bad service awareness, purposely buckpassing of certain suppliers as well as dissatisfaction due to quote troubles.

Also, complaints about SMS advertising and scams jumped by 22.4% over the previous year. This is despite China Mobile and Unicom both cutting off several suppliers which they accused of sending SMS spams."
