Siemens Unit To Build 3G Network For T-Mobile Croatia

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- Siemens AG's (SI) communications unit Tuesday said that it will serve as the sole supplier in building T-Mobile Croatia's third generation network.

The telecommunications group at Siemens will upgrade the operator's existing GSM network with 3G mobile radio and switching technology by year-end. T-Mobile Croatia is a subsidiary of T-Mobile International AG (TMO.YY), Deutsche Telekom AG's (DT) mobile phone unit.

It is the fourth 3G contract in the Central and Eastern European region for Siemens communications' unit.

Siemens said that in the first phase T-Mobile Croatia plans to provide UMTS services in urban areas, and meeting the prescribed regulation criteria and depending on market demands, the operator will build out the network all over the country.
