Cybercom To Administer New Mobile Phone Service Interface

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Swedish high tech consultant Cybercom Group Europe AB (CYBE.SK) Tuesday said it has announced an initiative for a computer interface for mobile phone services, which is applicable to any manufacturer's phones.

The company said it will administer the new service, called Open Mobile Service Interface, which it has developed together with mobile phone manufacturers Nokia Corp. (NOK), Siemens AG (SI) and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, joint venture of Telefon AB LM Ericsson (ERICY) and Sony Corp. (SNE).

Cybercom said the purpose of OMSI is to enable one single personal computer application to perform services and maintenance for any manufacturer's phones.

It is meant to simplify services and maintenance for mobile terminals at points of sale, in the supply chain and any other possible service location. The services can be software updates, diagnostics, device tests and user setting configurations, the company said.

Cybercom said it invites other mobile phone manufacturers as well as operators, application providers and other industry players to join the OMSI effort.
