Mobility Infrastructure Market Revenues Climb 29% in 2004
Dell'Oro Group has reported that sales of mobility infrastructure equipment increased 29% during 2004, due in large part to strong sales of GSM-based equipment in Asia Pacific and CDMA equipment in North America.
According to the report, revenues from sales of CDMA equipment in North America increased 30% sequentially in 4Q04.
"Service Providers in North America, such as Sprint and Verizon Wireless, are upgrading their networks to CDMA 1X-EV-DO equipment in order to provide their subscribers with high speed data capabilities; both for laptop connectivity and increasingly more sophisticated handset applications including video and music downloads," commented Greg Collins, Senior Director of Mobile Infrastructure research at Dell'Oro Group. "We expect to see CDMA growth continue during 2005, albeit at lower levels," he added.
