T-Mobile CEO Not Worried About Voice-Over-IP Tech - CNBC

FRANKFURT -(Dow Jones)- Deutsche Telekom AG's (DT) wireless arm T-Mobile International AG (TMO.YY) isn't overly concerned about the impact of Voice Over Internet Protocol on its revenue, T-Mobile Chief Executive Rene Obermann said in an interview with CNBC.

"I think voice-over IP in mobile (phone business) will also happen over time," Obermann said.

But he added he isn't overly worried about it because T-Mobile will bundle its services in packages at "protective prices and tariffs."

"That's why it's not going to affect our revenues too badly, I believe, at least not in the foreseeable future," Obermann told CNBC.

Voice over Internet protocol, or VoIP, allows customers to make calls over the Internet at a fraction of the cost of a normal telephone line, or even for free. The technology is gaining ground against fixed-line services and is also expected to become a feature in the wireless world in the future.
