GSM 900 Picocell Announced
ip.access has announced the upcoming availability of its new 900MHz GSM picocellular basestation - the nanoBTST GSM 900. The GSM 900 nanoBTS will be available to ship from July 2005 to mobile network operators in the 142 countries that currently run 900MHz networks.
The launch of the GSM 900 nanoBTS will enable the implementation of indoor, rural and remote picocell coverage solutions by the world's 273 operators who currently only hold a GSM 900 license, or whose users primarily use 900MHz handsets - which includes key markets such as China, Africa, India and Russia. The introduction of GSM 900 coverage by ip.access builds upon the current nanoBTS solution for GSM 1800 and 1900 MHz.
Commenting on today's announcement, Steve Mallinson, managing director, ip.access, said, "The release of our GSM 900 nanoBTS is a very significant development for the global operator community. By expanding the countries where picocell coverage is possible, ip.access is playing a key role in enabling the deployment of essential in-building, remote and rural services by GSM operators across the world."
The nanoBTST is part of the ip.access nanoGSMT solution, which integrates into network operators existing infrastructure to boost mobile phone coverage in previously hard-to-reach areas."
