One Step Closer to Mobile Phones on Planes

ARINC Inc. and Telenor have finalized a major element of their GSM Mobile Connectivity solution for the use of cell phones on commercial airlines. The companies announced a technology contract with Altobridge of Kerry Technology Park, Ireland, a developer of mobile systems for the aviation industry.

"The proven Altobridge platform will be the link between our Inmarsat satellite access and onboard GSM mobile users," stated Berit Svendsen, Telenor Chief Technical Officer. "As a recognized market leader, Altobridge's commitment not only brings proven technology to the ARINC/Telenor mobile solution, but enhances its market appeal."

"The completion of this agreement further illustrates that ARINC and Telenor have a truly tangible cell phone solution, and should clearly be the preferred partner for any airlines considering mobile inflight connectivity for passengers."
