Verizon Launches Music Video, Service For Cell Customers"
BEDMINSTER, N.J. -(Dow Jones)- Verizon Communications (VZ) launched a music video and news service for its cellphone customers through an agreement with Time Warner Inc.'s (TWX) music unit.
Terms weren't disclosed.
In a press release Monday, the two companies said the service, called V Cast, is available for a $15 monthly charge added to Verizon Wireless calling plans and includes video clips from news and entertainment from leading content providers.
Music videos from the Warner Music Group cost an additional fee of $3.99 per video.
The service is available in more than 30 metropolitan markets and covers more than 75 million people.
Users can obtain the service using the new VX8000 phone, available to Verizon customers for $199.99 after $70 rebate with a two-year customer agreement.
The service is also available using the Samsung a890 telephone, which costs $249.99 after a $70 rebate with a two-year customer agreement, and the CDM8940 from UTStarcom Personal Communications, for $229.99 after a $70 rebate with a two-year customer agreement.
