InterDigital Communications: Evidentiary Hearing Vs Nokia Ends
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- InterDigital Communications Corp. (IDCC) said Friday that an evidentiary hearing in an arbitration proceeding involving the company, a unit and Nokia Corp. (NOK) concluded Thursday.
The King of Prussia, Pa., company said in a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that the arbitration relates to Nokia's royalty obligations on its worldwide sales of two wireless technology products under its existing patent license with the InterDigital Technology Corp. unit.
InterDigital Communications said the arbitration outlines a timetable for filing posthearing briefs. After that, it said a tribunal will render a decision if the parties can't resolve the dispute.
The filing didn't provide any further information on the matter.
Dow Jones Newswires reported Jan. 13 that Nokia filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware against InterDigital Communications and its unit over a patent related to third-generation mobile-phone technology.
As reported, the parties have been involved in ongoing arbitration over royalty obligations that are part of a patent license agreement that InterDigital Communications made with L.M. Ericsson Telephone Co. (ERICY) and its spinoff, Sony Ericsson.
Shares of InterDigital Communications traded recently at $17.30 each, down 10 cents, or 0.57%, from Thursday's close. Nokia shares traded recently at $15.04 each, down 18 cents, or 1.18%.
InterDigital Communications develops technologies for the wireless communications industry.
Nokia manufactures cell phones.
