Nokia Helps MTC-Vodafone Launch Commercial 3G Network
STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Finland's Nokia Oyj (NOK) Tuesday said it has cooperated in the launch of a commercial 3G WCDMA network in Bahrain together with MTC-Vodafone of the U.K's Vodafone Group Plc (VOD).
Nokia supplied MTC-Vodafone Bahrain with the necessary 3G WCDMA radio access network.
The network was rolled-out in a joint cooperation with Future Communications Company International, Nokia's value-added reseller for networks in the Middle East.
Under an expansion agreement announced in September 2004, FCCI has delivered Nokia WCDMA radio-access network, including WCDMA base stations and radio network controllers, plus operational support services.
FCCI also carried out the network implementation and integration, supported by Nokia.
MTC-Vodafone Bahrain is a company established by a partner network agreement between Kuwait's Mobile Telecommunications Company (TELE.KW) and Vodafone.
