MTS Expands Russian Coverage

The Magadan region is the 73th Russian region to receive MTS' network coverage. In addition, MTS has developed these special offers for its users in Magadan: free subscription fees, free incoming calls from all regional mobile operators' phones and outgoing calls to fixed-line phones in the Magadan region charged as local calls. MTS' special JEANS New Year package with the activated JEANS-Minute service will also be available to its users in Magadan, offering the chance to win up to 2005 free seconds monthly during 2005.

MTS provides coverage to 115,000 inhabitants in Magadan city and its suburbs, amounting to 62 percent of the region's population. The Magadan region is part of the Far East Federal Okrug, which has a population of over 183,000, of which 9,500 are mobile users. Thus, the regional mobile penetration is 5 percent, in comparison to Russia's average penetration of 45.2 percent.
