Tuberculosis Tests for Cingular Staff
Local media has reported that over sixty staff at a call center operated by the USA based GSM operator, Cingular have been tested for tuberculosis (TB). The tests were voluntary and followed the possibly unrelated death of a worker at the call center.
However, Oklahoma Health Department Spokesman H.R. Holman said that two staff had tested as positive from the tests. Further tests will be needed to confirm the diagnosis though.
TB is spread through the air from one person to another. The bacteria are put into the air when a person with TB disease of the lungs or throat coughs or sneezes. People nearby may breathe in these bacteria and become infected."
