Motorola Wins Malaysian Contract
Motorola has been awarded a three year frame contract to expand and upgrade cellular and radio access networks for Malaysia's Maxis Communications. Additionally, the contract allows for Motorola to provide a comprehensive portfolio of professional services along with the physical network enhancement. These services include network design, system optimization and systems integration.
Motorola first started installing Maxis' GSM system 10 years ago, and in 2001 installed its GPRS wireless data network.
"We are honoured to take this relationship with Maxis to greater heights with the building of its next-generation networks as well as helping Malaysia's leading operator to harness new revenue streams. Motorola's experience and expertise in building and maintaining telecommunications networks will enable Maxis to chart a smooth migration path to 3G." said John Edwards, Vice President and General Manager for Motorola's Infrastructure business in Asia.
A portion of the contract is being financed by Motorola."
