Ericsson Gets Managed Services Contract In Philippines

STOCKHOLM -(Dow Jones)- Swedish telecommunication equipment maker Telefon AB L.M. Ericsson (ERICY) Wednesday said it has signed a managed services contract with Sun Cellular in the Philippines for the integration, implementation and hosting of mobile telephone video streaming services.

No financial details were disclosed.

Ericsson said it will also be responsible for the aggregation and management of content for Sun Cellular's streaming service, and round-the-clock operation and maintenance of the hosted solution.

Ericsson will provide the video streaming services on Sun Cellular's GSM network through its Ericsson Content Delivery System, or ECDS.

ECDS is a scalable system based on the 3GPP standard.

It is designed for fast and secure implementation into the mobile network and enables telecom specific functionalities such as session management, traffic control, quality of service monitoring, single sign on and online charging support.

Ericsson's hosting offering includes applications and enablers, as well as content such as music, entertainment and games provided by Ericsson's content partners.

The company said it takes the responsibility for integration, round-the-clock operation and maintenance through regional operation centers.
