Bulgarian Network Improves Media Gates

Veraz Networks has announced that Bulgaria's GSM network operator, MobilTel has deployed its high-compression I-Gate 4000 media gateways in its cellular network to carry domestic and international traffic. Initially, the media gateways will be used for a multi-point trunking application launched between three major cities in Bulgaria and an international point of presence (POP) in Frankfurt, with the opportunity to expand to more international POPs.

"We've been working with Veraz on other projects and are very pleased with the stability of their products and the service from the company. The I-Gate 4000 media gateways were exactly what we needed to improve our voice trunking today while having the flexibility to expand to an NGN platform in the future," said John Treuge, Chief Network Officer of MobilTel. "To serve our customers, we believe in only the best and with our partner Veraz we can deliver the best services."

Veraz's I-Gate 4000 media gateways were selected due to its ability to compress data, voice and fax traffic over MobilTel's backbone without compromising on toll quality or stability. By choosing Veraz's equipment with best-of components like its in-house DSP technology, carriers like MobilTel have an advantage of selecting a future-proof NGN solution that can deliver high voice and fax compression while maintaining carrier-grade voice quality. The compression rates of the Veraz media gateways surpass any competitor with more than double the rates."
