Siemens Licenses Openwave Browser

Openwave Systems has announced that Siemens has licensed its Mobile Browser Version 7 (V7) for its Siemens 65 series of handsets which are expected to ship in Europe in the middle of this year.

Openwave Phone Suite V7 browser represents an advance in mobile browsing technology, including significant developments in page rendering and customization.

"With more than half a billion phones powered by Openwave software and over 50 percent market share, Openwave is a clear leader in mobile browser technology," said Rob Williams, general manager of the client product group at Openwave. "It is fitting that an innovator like Siemens would lead the market by bringing this advanced browsing technology into its portfolio."
