Louisiana Gets More GSM
Cingular Wireless has expanded its GSM network to the Alexandria and Lake Charles markets. The new GSM network is part of Cingular's 2004 commitment to invest US$84.5 million in the Louisiana network and US$3 billion nationally -- adding more cell sites, circuits and switches.
"Consumers have become more and more dependent on wireless service for all aspects of their lives, both business and personal," said Joe Ribando, Cingular Wireless Director of Sales - Louisiana. "Clearer, higher quality calls, faster data speeds, and comprehensive coverage are essential in meeting consumers' wireless needs today -- and that's what we are focused on delivering," he said.
"The GSM upgrade is part of our on-going commitment to deliver the best technology, products and performance to our customers," Ribando said. "The customer is our number one priority and we have more than 2,400 Louisiana employees who are committed to providing each one of them with the quality service they have come to expect."
Cingular has invested over $620 million in the Louisiana network. The network covers more than 31,840 square miles across the state with over 900 cell sites."
