LG to Supply 3G Handsets
Hutchison 3G has announced the choice of LG Electronics as preferred a UMTS Videophone provider. Under the commercial agreement, LG Electronics is committed to supplying 3 million UMTS dual mode terminals, compatibles with the GSM standards (900 and 1800 Mhz.) and GPRS, to the 3 group of companies by the end of 2004.
Thanks to this agreement, LG Electronics joins Motorola and NEC in the group of the preferred Videophone providers of Hutchison's 3 businesses, extending the range of 3G phones available for 3 clients in the world.
The U8110, which is the first videophone for LG Electronics, produced exclusively for 3 will be sold in the Italian shops from today. With its appealing clamshell design, the U8110, is the smallest UMTS Videophone available in the market: its weight is only 126 grams and boasts a linear minimalist design (95x49x22 mm.)
