Siemens Wins Chinese Order
China Mobile has commissioned the Siemens Mobile to expand its mobile network in the provinces and municipalities of Anhui, Shanghai and Zhejiang. The order is worth around US$35 million and involves Siemens enhancing the network's capacity providing Power CPs - high-performance processors for the switching systems - and expanding the base stations. China Mobile's customers will be able to benefit from the enhanced network performance as early as June 2004.
The Power CPs from Siemens enhance the performance of mobile switching systems and, in addition, prepare the network for the upgrade to 3G technology.
The rapidly growing Chinese mobile market requires reliable partners. Siemens has been helping China Mobile to expand its infrastructure for years. "As one of the world's largest mobile markets, China is naturally of vital importance for our network business," explains Christoph Caselitz, President of the Networks Division at Siemens mobile. "Our production plants and research and development activities directly in China make it easier for us to adapt our services to exactly suit the needs of China Mobile."
