Texan Operators Prepare for Location Services

Intrado has announced new contracts with eight new Tier 3 market operators to provide E911 Phase I and/or II services. Intrado E911 services will enable wireless operators in Texas to serve their subscribers more efficiently with enhanced emergency services. New wireless operators include Cellular One of Amarillo, Five Star Wireless, Peoples Wireless, Plateau Wireless, Poka Lambro Telecommunications, Wes-Tex Telecom, West Central Wireless and XIT Cellular.

The operators have purchased a combination of hosted Phase I and II services and in some cases, Position Determination Equipment (PDE) services from Intrado. Now these rural operators can deliver on the accuracy and availability requirements set forth by the FCC E9-1-1 mandate. With Intrado, rural operators, regardless of size, air interface and subscriber base, can quickly benefit from Intrado hosted solutions by reducing the need for costly capital expenditures.

"We are excited about our new relationships with these Texas Tier 3 operators and look forward to helping them serve their subscribers with high quality, reliable emergency services for CDMA, TDMA and GSM," said Dan Hoskins, senior vice president of the Intrado Wireless Business Group. "Intrado is helping rural wireless carriers in Texas and throughout the United States meet these challenges by providing cost-effective access to the same reliable, accurate and high-quality E9-1-1 services provided to subscribers in urban markets."
