Belgium Network Hit by SMS Hoax

Belgium's Proximus has filed a complaint against an unknown person with the police of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode. At issue, an SMS "chain letter" discovered on 15 March inviting customers of the operator to forward an SMS received to acquaintances. In return, the customers would then receive free SMS messages.

Since Monday morning, an SMS message claiming to be an official communication from Proximus has begun being sent to customers of the operator by other customers. The message (and its variants) looks like this: "Proximus: vu le succ
