Testing Analogue Phones
Willtek Communications has announced the second version of its 4464 CDMA2000 System Option for the 4400 Series Mobile Phone Tester, now also supporting the testing of AMPS (Advanced Mobile Phone System) and dual-mode CDMA/AMPS phones which are widely used in the USA, Canada and Latin America. The new software will allow service depots and manufacturers to perform rapid and comprehensive tests on AMPS and CDMA phones at a superb price-performance ratio.
The CDMA2000 option, can be installed in the Willtek 4400 Series Mobile Phone Tester. With its high accuracy and test speed, this test solution for mobile phone production and repair ensures fast alignment and service turnaround at low cost.
The new software version will also be available over the Internet as a free upgrade to existing users of the 4400 with CDMA2000. The additional AMPS functions help service depots to verify the quality of the mobile phone and include, power and deviation measurements, and handoff and power changes when on an AMPS call.
AMPS is a legacy system for wireless communications, applying analog transmission of speech. Although Willtek expects that the sales of AMPS-capable mobile phones will be faded out in the course of this year, there are still millions of phones in the field that may need repair within the next several years. According to an FCC ruling from February 2003, US-American AMPS networks have to stay operational for at least another five years to ensure wireless network coverage in rural areas."
