Chinese Backhaul Improved
Vyyo, a supplier of wireless broadband end-to-end solutions for telephony and high-speed data connections, has announced that China Mobile has deployed Vyyo's solutions for cellular backhaul in the city of Ningbo, in China's Zhejiang province. Datang Mobile served as the system integrator in Ningbo.
Located in the middle of China's coastline and south of the Yangtze Delta, Ningbo is divided from Shanghai by Hangzhou Bay. Ningbo has a population of 5.3 million people.
"Vyyo continues to be selected for wireless voice and data capabilities across China," stated Michael Corwin, president and chief operating officer of Vyyo. "China Mobile is also using Vyyo's solutions in Lhasa and Shanghai for cellular backhaul, and we expect that the company will continue to evaluate our wireless E1 links for additional deployments."
Corwin continued, "As recently announced, the Chinese government is currently in the process of allocating additional 3.5 GHz frequency throughout the country. As the government releases these additional licenses and commits to building a wireless broadband infrastructure, we anticipate Vyyo's solutions will enable operators to rapidly deploy wireless backhaul and access solutions in China."
"We are pleased to announce yet another city deployment of Vyyo solutions," stated Mr. Sun Yuwang, general manager of Shanghai Datang Mobile Communications Equipment. "China Mobile is one of three large telecom operators who we have worked with to implement Vyyo's quality wireless broadband solutions. We look forward to implementing additional Chinese cities as the government continues to roll out additional 3.5 GHz frequency licenses."
