Cape Town Awards 3 Year Cellphone Contract
South Africa's Cell C has been awarded an exclusive contract to supply and deliver cellular products and services to the City of Cape Town until 2007. Commencing this month, the company will supply up to 3,700 cellular postpaid contracts. The City of Cape Town was looking to consolidate its cellular business with one network with a focus on increasing value for money and providing more tariff choices for the wide variety of users in its employ.
"We are delighted to partner with the City of Cape Town," said Vincent Raseroka, managing director of Cell C Service Provider Company, a subsidiary of Cell C (Pty) Ltd. He added "we are committed to delivering innovative products and services customized to the needs of the city."
The city manager, Dr Wallace Mgoqi said "The appointment of Cell C as our exclusive cellular service provider until 2007 has enabled us to consolidate our business with one provider. I am confident that this partnership will be of immense benefit to the City and ultimately to those we are here to serve, the residents of Cape Town."
The partnership marks one of the company's significant corporate contracts with a major city since the launch of Cell C Business in July last year. Since its launch in November 2001, Cell C has rolled out about 1,600 live base stations and aims to increase the number to 2,334 live base stations by mid 2005."
