Teleca Expands Symbian Agreement
Teleca says that it has expanded its collaboration with Symbian. Teleca will become one of the first Symbian Independent Design Houses (IDH) and will extend its offerings to include complete smart phone designs.
Teleca, which is already an independent integrator of the Symbian platform, develops reference platforms for both 2G and 3G mobile phones together with several Symbian licensees worldwide. Through this new agreement Teleca expects to expand its smart phone business further.
"We're very pleased to be expanding our collaboration with Symbian. As a Symbian IDH we'll help Symbian licensees with complete smart phone designs. Right now we're experiencing a lot of interest in our leading Symbian expertise from many of the major phone manufacturers," says John Cooper, director, Smart Phones Business Segment at Teleca.
"Symbian is delighted that Teleca, our long-standing partner, has joined the Independent Design House programme. Our new agreement with Teleca will offer reduced development times and give Symbian OS licensees the ability to differentiate their products even more in the end market," says Andy Brannan, VP, Sales at Symbian. "Teleca's announcement adds further momentum to the mobile industry's endorsement of Symbian OS for advanced mobile phones."
