Nokia Pilots EDGE Services in Jakarta

Nokia and Indonesia's largest GSM operator Telkomsel have jointly demonstrated live mobile multimedia services over an EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution) network in the Indonesian city of Jakarta. The Telkomsel EDGE service was officially launched by Indonesia's Minister of Communications, Mr. Agum Gumelar, together with Telkomsel's President Director Mr. Bajoe Narbito.

At the event, Telkomsel and its content and application partners successfully demonstrated various end-user applications and services over the Nokia EDGE network like Video Streaming, Interactive Gaming and high-speed data transmission for business-to-business applications.

Nokia has been working with Telkomsel since 1996, providing GSM and GPRS infrastructure and turnkey services for the operator's network."
